Enna and Surroundings in 2 Days: The High Heart of Sicily
Enna is known as the “Belvedere of Sicily” or the navel of the island. As the highest provincial capital in Italy, it offers sweeping views that stretch from Mount Etna all the way to the Madonie Mountains.

Day 1: Enna, the City in the Clouds
On your first day, explore Enna’s historic center, where imposing medieval architecture meets breathtaking panoramas.
Lombardy Castle and Frederick’s Tower
Start at Lombardy Castle (Castello di Lombardia), one of the largest medieval fortresses in Italy. Climb the Pisan Tower for a 360-degree view—on clear days, it feels like you could almost touch Mount Etna, even though it’s nearly 100 km away.
Just a short distance away, don’t miss Frederick II’s Tower, an elegant octagonal structure set within a public park.

Enna Cathedral and Marconi Belvedere
Stroll along Via Roma to reach Enna Cathedral, a monumental blend of Baroque and Renaissance styles, famous for its impressive coffered wooden ceiling.
Continue on to Marconi Belvedere, the perfect spot to photograph nearby Calascibetta, which looks like a nativity scene perched on the opposite hill.
